Are you pregnant with twins but not sure when you’ll deliver due to different types of identical twins being delivered at different times? I’m a mom of MoDi Twins and I created this twin due date calculator to help you determine what to expect when you’re pregnant with identical twins!
Note: this is not medical advice, it is for informational purposes only. Please check with your Maternal Fetal Medicine provider (MFM) for more details regarding your twin pregnancy based on your unique situation.
How to Use the Twin Due Date Calculator
- Type in the first day of your last menstrual period.
- Select the type of identical twins you’re pregnant with.
- Click the calculate due date button and it’ll show you your standard due date plus the due date based on when it is suggested to deliver your type of identical twins. About Twin Types
Di/Di Twins (Dichorionic/Diamniotic): Each twin has their own placenta and amniotic sac. These can be fraternal or identical twins. Typically delivered around 38 weeks.
Mo/Di Twins (Monochorionic/Diamniotic): Twins share a placenta but have separate amniotic sacs. These are always identical twins. Typically delivered around 37 weeks.
Mo/Mo Twins (Monochorionic/Monoamniotic): Twins share both a placenta and an amniotic sac. These are always identical and the rarest type. Typically delivered around 33 weeks due to higher risks.
Note: This calculator provides estimates based on general guidelines. Always consult with your healthcare provider for personalized medical advice.
Twin Due Date Calculator
The Twin Due Date Calculator is the perfect way to find the gestational age of your twin babies by using the first day of your last period. With this calculator you’ll see the likely date of conception, estimated due date at 40 weeks of pregnancy, and the likely delivery date of your twins based on which type of twins you are pregnant with.
You’ll get to see the pregnancy timeline, including first day of your last period, likely date of conception, when twin heartbeats may be detected, when your first trimester of pregnancy will be complete, when your second trimester will be complete, recommended delivery date for your type of twins, and the standard due date at 40 weeks.
You can refer back to this page to get your updated current gestational age of your twins whenever you’re not sure.
The twin due date calculator works whether you’ve had in vitro fertilization, fertility treatment, irregular periods, or a regular period, etc. You can always adjust the first day of your last period when your healthcare provider is able to tell you the likely gestational age of the babies you are unsure of the estimated date of conception or first day of your last period.
Keep in mind, this calculator is an estimate and for informational purposes. Your healthcare provider, likely your OBGYN and Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) provider, will give you more details regarding the approximate date in which you should deliver based on any medical condition you or your babies have, the amount of amniotic fluid within the amniotic sac or sacs, ultrasound measurements, general health of mom and babies, and other measurements.
It’s great to have this twin pregnancy calculator as a general guide when you’re planning your pregnancy, maternity leave, time off, baby showers, and more!
Typically, you’ll find out if you’re pregnant with twins at your first ultrasound scan around 8 weeks of pregnancy. By then you may already have some early twin pregnancy symptoms including more weight gain than you’d expect so early on, nausea, breast changes, that may already have you wondering if you’re carrying more than one baby.

Pregnant with Twins? You’ll want the Twin Pregnancy Journal!
When I was pregnant with twins I was using a regular pregnancy journal but there was no place to keep track of all the extra appointments, all the measurements, ultrasounds, etc. Years later, I decided to make the twin pregnancy journal I wish I would have had when I was pregnant!!
The twin pregnancy journal has over 100 pages you can use digitally on a tablet or iPad or print it out and put it in a binder to hold even more info. It includes a pages for every week, ultrasound pages you can duplicate if you need more, places to keep track of Baby A and Baby B’s measurements, weights, etc. each week, birth plan pages, and even the hospital bag checklist I created from when I had my twins!
Here it is below, click the button or image below to learn more and purchase. It’s much less expensive than the pre-printed ones, that’s for sure! I know you’ve got enough expenses right now, though this took me a lot of time to put together, I’m ultimately here to help.
NEW! I’ve included Digital and Printable versions! The digital version has a hyperlinked Table of Contents, links to helpful twin pregnancy blog posts for along your journey, and what to buy for twins!
